Questions which asked Riely last Wed nite :
1) How to increase the ability understand
the tactics of two teams are using ? So the
referee can adapt his own refereeing tactics
accordingly ?
2) The choice between Y card or R card is to
be based solely upon the nature and the
seriousness of the offence committed. There
is no easy answers to this question, no short-cuts.
What is your comment ?
3) While a referee is going to book a player,
occasionally he will give a long talk to the player
concerned with aims to calm down the tempo.
What most probably will bethe conversation ??

Issuing a Caution or administring a sending off offence all require the referee to making a decision base on Fact, which is the basic criteria to do so. As a referee, to understand the intention of a foul would enhance his decision towards a precision one.
Last but not least, talking to player while issuing Cuation will enducate how serious and consequence will be for further non-stop action. That is why the English referee wuld not talk too much while issuing the second Caution to dismiss a player because room had provided.

Knowing the tactics of the teams is a very essential step before you entering the field. Knowing them before hand helps you response to the actions or events more promptly. It makes better decisions.
Giving a caution or a dismissal to a player should be based on the action. However, I think some preventive measures might be useful for the match. In the cases shown by the video, I don't think that would happen at the very beginning of the match. It should be said that the match may be deterioated during the first half by some dangerous or careless actions first. Being a referee, I think early minor verbal warnings or some talks to players may help. Of course, if the match gesture becomes that bad, cautions or dismissals would only be the choices.

Hello 阿sir! 第一條唔識答, 想請教下你.![]()
Yellow card caution or Red card sent off should be based on the laws of the game.
The nature and the seriousness of the offence committed is one of the criteria, but not the
key determination to give a Y or R card. By the way, the intention of player who commits foul
play is an important factor as well. Again, we can't only caution the player who commits a foul
play that is obviously a sent off because of the results and scoring of that game. Be fair to
both teams in order to become a good referee.
Ah SIR, 請指導

1) should know what format the teams are playing - 442, 352,
flat system, diamond system - watch the teams playing quite ofen ;
2) for the match Arsenal vs. Villa - Riely gave a good advantage and after
awarding a PK to the latter, gave a Y card to Fabricas for the previous
offences - very good and good in reading the game.
